Description

Follow the first steps of the Ignatian way along the route of the three temples, where you will discover three historically-religious buildings of great importance in Gipuzkoa region, which are great claims of the recently awarded with the EDEN (European Destination of Excellence) prize, TIERRA IGNACIANA.

We will visit the interpretation center of La Antigua in Zumárraga, where we will begin to understand the evolution of the city and the importance of what is considered as the cathedral of the Basque hermitages, that we will visit next. A hermitage of great beauty built with stone and wood carved with much detail. Later we will go to the Sanctuary of Aranzazu, where before deepening in it we can rest and recover strength in the restaurants nearby. Here we will begin to understand the majesty of a sanctuary located in an unique geographical environment and that represent one of the best examples of Basque avant-garde architecture. We will finish with the jewel in the crown. With the Shrine of Loyola, built in honor of the most universal Basque character (Saint Ignatius of Loyola, founder of the company of the Jesuits), where we can also see the birthplace, around which the basilica was built.
